Scent Aware School

Scent Aware School

In May, Springbank Community High School made the move to being a Scent-aware School. From all accounts, this move was respectfully handled and put into action. Thank you for the efforts to do so.

In advance of next year, we want to ensure that the information about the Scent-aware Policy has been shared with all current and incoming students and families for full awareness.

At SCHS, we want to do our best to keep everyone safe and healthy. We have a number of students and staff who are highly sensitive to certain allergens, including Fragrance, parfum, and scents. Therefore, we ask that all people entering the school please refrain from wearing perfume, cologne, body sprays, scented products, and essential oils (including especially those scented with orange, citrus, lime, and Balsum of Peru).

Here are three ways we can support this Policy in action:

  • Please do not wear perfume, cologne, scented products or sprays, or essential oils when coming into SCHS.
  • Please consider using products that are unscented or fragrance free.
  • Please do not bring perfumes, colognes, scented products and sprays, or essential oils into our school; most especially, please do not spray them or open/use them in the school at any time, including during extra-curricular events.

We thank you for your attention to and respect for these health concerns and for helping us to keep everyone safe from allergic reactions this coming school year. If there are any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out to us.

Land Acknowledgment

Rocky View Schools would like to acknowledge the land and recognize all the Indigenous Peoples whose footprints have marked these lands from time immemorial. Together, we can learn and honour the Ways of Knowing of Indigenous Peoples for all future generations.
